I’ve had so many oil painting classes in this week I was inspired to create this week’s study in oils instead. I’d submitted concepts for a job, and this concept didn’t get chosen, but I still felt I had to complete it. So I spent time working into the acrylic base with some oils to lift the tones and textures.
Turns out it there were scribbles already painted on the back! It’s authentic! However, I do think with large crisp stretched canvases, there’s an expectation to create something amazing and cool and sometimes that pressure translates to a painting. Whereas little bits of paper I’ve picked up from my desk in a moment of inspiration often feels freer and less derived.
Please note, as it was only painted this week in oils, it’s still got approx 2 weeks of drying time before I can post.
