A combination of mindfulness and art

Creating art is a wonderful way to practice mindfulness. Many people believe that to practice mindfulness we have to sit really still with our thoughts, and while that’s a fantastic way to do it, we can also meditate with other activities. The aim is to be present with our thoughts and empty our heads as much as possible. When drawing or painting specific activities, this can be a great way to shift focus, clear away thoughts and overall calm our breathing.

We offer classes that combine both activities

Each class starts with a guided meditation, followed by creating some art and finished with a reflective meditation. Every class is different in content and will be planned to work for the audience attending - whether that be a theme, interest or to work with the surroundings. Art ranges from sketching, to watercolour pencils to abstract creations.

Who is it for

Anyone interested in using art to help them be more mindful. Adults, teenagers, children and families. We’ve catered specifically for each age group and different demographics.

Who are we

Mindful Art was developed by secondary teacher Charlene McCallum and artist, Kayleigh McCallum. It was piloted successfully in St Ninian’s High School in Scotland and has been rolled out to other schools, private and corporate events. Previous clients include the National Museum of Scotland.

Current classes

At the moment we don’t have any class planned due to maternity leave, but we are available to hire for your events, schools, online or in person.
