People & Faces Workshop | Sun 16 Nov 2-5pm | Adult Art Class
Time: 2-5pm
Date: Sun 16 Nov 2025
Location: Millworks, 28 Field Road, Busby, G76 8SE
We will cover off:
Sketching faces - proportions and working from life and a photograph
Sketching bodies - proportions working from photographs
Colour mixing for skin tones
Drawing little people from a distance - great for landscapes with some people walking around in them
We will use different drawing and painting materials for each stage, with the main aim of getting the form and tone correct.
My main aim is to get you feeling more confident about being able to draw a person or a face, and in turn we’ll work on colour. The techniques of colour mixing and layering are transferable for oils, acrylics and watercolour.
Please note, there will not be a live model, we will be working from reference images. I have picked particular photographs which will help you learn the fundamentals of drawing people.
I would recommend this class to those that have done a little drawing/painting, not complete beginners. You’ll need to have a little drawing or painting experience just so we’re not starting completely from scratch, even if it’s only a landscape or a bowl of fruit!
Materials are provided, but you are more than welcome to bring your own along if you’d prefer to learn how to use what you’ve got in the house.

Why this class?
If you know how to draw the basics, but are not sure how to draw people, faces or colour mix skin tones, add the correct shades and highlights, this is for you. Also, if you’ve done some acrylic painting before but steer away from people, this could be for you. You don’t have to be a pro, but as long as you’ve done a little before, you’ll find the techniques helpful for taking away the people-scares!
This is a chilled afternoon away from it all to learn some new skills, have a chat and zone out! I keep a very relaxed class.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own refreshments too (wine is allowed!)
Venue
The venue is in my studio in Busby, Glasgow. It’s a 10 minute walk from Busby Train Station and the number 6 bus stops nearby too. There is free parking outside the venue.
Unfortunately the room is on the first floor with no lift access. My sincere apologies if this is a barrier to you attending.
Timings
Class will start promptly at 2pm, so please arrive 5 minutes early to allow for settling in. Class will end at 5pm.
Cancellation policy
Fingers crossed there won’t be any disruptions to class, but in the case the class needs to be cancelled, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class. If you have purchased a ticket and can no longer make it, I have a 72 hour cancellation policy. If cancelled more than 72 hours before, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class, but unfortunately if within the 72 hours and I’m unable to fill the spot (I will try the waiting list!) then I can’t offer a refund.
