Ballet is powerful. the strength, form and determination needed never fails to amaze me. This emotive story is represented with bold brush strokes, texture and contrasting colours of the abstracted background. The dancers expression and form shows the power created within her own body.
I love painting dancers due to the unique shapes within the human form; lengthened limbs, moving fabrics and expressive faces. I don’t often use acrylic paints but I wanted to make sure the colours sat on their own without too much blending. Acrylics were perfect for this.
