Portrait Painting Workshop | Sun 28 April 1-4pm | Adult Art Class

£40.00

Time: 1-4pm
Date: Sun 28 April 24
Location: Millworks, Field Road, Busby, G76 8SE

This class looks at how to paint portraits in acrylic paints. I promise it’s not as scary as it sounds!

We’ll go through some studies of creating skin tones and looking at light and shadow on faces and the different features of the face. You’ll leave with a full portrait.

We’ll use acrylic paint for our portraits as it’s a good base to learn from. The techniques of colour mixing and layering are transferable for oils and watercolour so it’s a good place to start.

Please note, there will not be a live model, we will be working from reference images. I have picked particular portraits which will help you learn the fundamentals of portrait painting.

I would recommend this class to those that have previously been to one of my portrait drawing classes or acrylic workshops. You’ll need to have a little drawing or painting experience just so we’re not starting completely from scratch.

Materials are provided, but you are more than welcome to bring your own along if you’d prefer to learn how to use what you’ve got in the house.

Why this class?

I little step up from the basics of portrait drawing or landscape acrylic painting. If you know how to draw the basics, but are not sure how to colour mix skin tones, add the correct shades and highlights, this is for you. Also, if you’ve done some acrylic painting before but steer away from people, this could be for you. You don’t have to be a pro, but as long as you’ve done a little before, this class is for you.

This is a chilled afternoon away from it all to learn some new skills, have a chat and zone out! I keep a very relaxed class.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own refreshments too (wine is allowed!)

Materials

All materials are provided. However, if you’d prefer to use your own so you can learn to work with what you’ve got at home, you’re more than welcome to bring them along. Here’s what we’ll be using:

 - Acrylic Paper / canvas
 - Tear off palette

If you’d like any advice or suggestions, I’ve put my favourite materials here.

Venue

The venue is in my new studio in Busby, Glasgow. It’s a 10 minute walk from Busby Train Station and the number 6 bus stops nearby too. There is free parking outside the venue.

Unfortunately the room is on the first floor with no lift access. My sincere apologies if this is a barrier to you attending.

Timings

Class will start promptly at 1pm, so please arrive 5 minutes early to allow for settling in. Class will end at 4pm.

Cancellation policy

Fingers crossed there won’t be any disruptions to class, but in the case the class needs to be cancelled, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class. If you have purchased a ticket and can no longer make it, I have a 72 hour cancellation policy. If cancelled more than 72 hours before, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class, but unfortunately if within the 72 hours and I’m unable to fill the spot (I will try the waiting list!) then I can’t offer a refund.
