The Emperor Penguin
This is Sanchez the Emperor Penguin. He lives in Antartica with his family and loves swimming and diving, so he’s been painted with a splash of sea behind him, looking out over his land. Emperor penguins are the largest of the penguin species so I wanted to portray this height and stature in the painting.
The painting was created using ink on hot-pressed watercolour paper. I used a dip pen with black ink for the small details and used a bold ultramarine blue for the burst of water behind him.
The original painting has sold, but there are still prints available in A4 or A3.
Feedback on the print quality has been brilliant - the colour match is spot on and they’re printed on thick art paper.
Prints are sent in a cellophane wrapper with cardboard sheet to keep them protected and in good condition. You can also pick up from the Glasgow studio, if you’d prefer.
