I've decided to start a blog. I really enjoy reading other people's thoughts and ideas online, so I thought I'd put mine online too.
Artists in Jail
In August 2016 I decided to launch my art and illustration business full time. I love it! I love being self-employed, I love doing something I'm really passionate about and I love the fact I'm on the way to living my dream. However, sometimes structure in a day can be difficult and it's so easy to just paint all day and ignore the admin. So I got myself some hot-desking. In a jail!
Jobs in Business Glasgow offer an amazing opportunity for start-ups to work in The Orkney Street Enterprise Centre in Govan - a renovated jail with cells that have been turned into offices. It’s been great for concentration and getting out of my studio for a change of scenery.
Since working in my cell, I've had 3 big ideas:
I should start writing a blog. I've found it really helpful reading other people's start-up blogs while I've been launching and it's surprising what little nuggets of info make the biggest difference. Maybe someone will get something from me writing posts! The hardest bit will be keeping up with it, but I’m determined.
A new campaign called ‘Beauty Laid Bare’. My favourite subject to draw/paint is the female body – amazing shapes, colours and energy. I wish other people could see how amazing their bodies are – there’s so much self consciousness out there and we all need to be more body confident. So why not love the skin you’re in and get painted in the nude? Could be a gift for a loved one or just affirmation for your wall. YOU look good naked! I’ll be promoting this for the next few months.
I need to get back up to date with current music. I’ve realised that when I paint I listen to a lot of the same music over and over again. LOVE a throwback. However, anyone with any suggestions on current music that could be the soundtrack to my painting, please let me know!
What's to come
I think this is a good place to start with some January resolutions and a brand new campaign to kick off the year.
I’ll probably fill my blog with the latest ramblings on the art and illustration world, but also personal progressions and recommendations. So feel free to give me a follow on any social media to keep up to date:
